Vintage Peavey Mace VT tube guitar amplifier in very nice, fully working condition.
This amp started out as a combo with a pair of black widow 12's, but in that configuration, they were so heavy that no one wanted to carry one to a gig. This amp was given new life in a custom head cabinet and is ready to rock for at least another 30 years.
Features six- yes, that's right- SIX 6L6GC output tubes, these things can get very, very loud if you want. Rated at a very conservative 160W, they can easily pump a bone-crushing 180W RMS, so make sure your speaker cabinet can cope with that kind of power.
Four inputs which provide a variety of tonal possibilities, plus built in spring reverb, phase shifter, effects loop, 1/4" and XLR line outputs- lots of bang for your buck.
This amp originally featured a fixed bias which required retubing with hand-picked tubes to achieve proper output performance. It has since been modified with an adjustable bias trimpot neatly hidden behind the rear grille. Adjustable bias does a world of good for these tone-wise, and allows the use of a much wider range of 6L6GC tubes.
This amp will ship with no tubes installed, because it is simply not a good idea to ship an amplifier of this size and weight with tubes installed- no good can come from it. If you would like to purchase a matched sextet of 6L6GC, we will ship them in a separate package designed for safe delivery of glass items. We have many 6L6GC options available, so contact us for more info on those.
No footswitch is included with this item, but there is a cat on eBay who is making nice, brand new custom ones for a very reasonable price. We could probably make you one up as well, for a small fee...
Take a look at the pictures, ask any questions and voice any concerns prior to purchase. What you see is what you get. Please- no whining after the sale. It is what it is and it is as described above. No returns.
International members please note- this amplifier is set up for 120VAC mains only. We will ship international, but you will need to address the power issue yourself. Please contact us for an international shipping quote prior to purchase, thanks.
Don't be afraid to make an offer, but please- be realistic. Clean vintage pieces in good working order such as this are getting quite scarce.
