This auction is for a Vintage Music Man Sixty-Five tube guitar amplifier. 1X12 Music Man speaker, 2 el34 power tubes (new JJ's). Recently serviced, good to gig straight away. This amp was produced before the HD, RD, and RP models and most likely dates between 1975 and 1980. It is a hybrid amp meaning the front end is solid-state, with no preamp tubes, coupled with an all tube power section. 2 channels, one dry with volume, bass, treble, the other with 3 band eq, volume, reverb and tremolo. Master volume. SUPERB clean tones. Do not let the SS preamp section fool you into believing this amp sounds less amazing than other all tube models, it is a great circuit and sounds VERY much like that other California amp company...at a FAR lesser cost. Tons of dynamic range even before you kick in the bright or deep switches. Use the high power setting to run at full tilt or use the low power setting to reduce the plate voltage and have a more conservative master volume...and by the way this thing is DEAFENINGLY loud!! The Reverb is a GREAT sounding accutronics spring reverb and the tremolo is simply outstanding. The amp is in extremely good shape for an amp its age, with only a few scuffs on the tolex, some light oxidation on the metal corners, and some wear on the knob labels. The rear tube cover has been replaced with 2 strips of painted wood, which look fine and serve their purpose well. This is a Great example of a late seventies Music Man, and the usage of these amps by the likes of Eric Clapton, The Grateful Dead and Mark Knopfler is well documented. I don't have the footswitch but any 2 button will do, so long as it connects via RCA. It does come with a vinyl amp cover and the original power tubes The power cord is original but the plug has been replaced by a sturdy 3 prong plug.. This amp has sounded great for me at plenty of gigs, I just need to thin the herd for an upcoming purchase. Thanks for watching and check out my other cool guitar stuff for sale!
