ITEM: For your consideration is this very rare vintage 1960 Fender Super-Amp guitar amplifier. This particular example, serial number 01444, is in absolutely remarkable 100% ALL ORIGINAL condition, completely unmodified and unserviced for 50 years. Those familiar with the Fender Super evolution, will recognize that this post-center Volume variety only existed for a brief moment. This unusual version still retains the 5G4-designated tube chart with a "JH" date stamp, the earlier Tweed-style grill cloth, late-50's Triad transformers, and pink tolex! Finding another example in comparable condition will be very difficult. As stated, this amplifier is in 100% original condition, and it works and sounds great! While most of the date-able components are from very early 1960, the tube chart date stamp indicates it was completed around August 1960. The latest transformer is dated 606-0-31, and the original Jensen speakers are stamped 220018 (May 1960). The original pots are very early 1960, the original tubes are dated mid-1960, and the original Astron capacitors are dated late-January 1960.

This amp features: original Jensen P10R speakers, original Amperex and GE tubes, original pink-hued rough brown tolex, original Tweed-style brown tolex with the yellow stripes, original "dogbone" handle, original Astron capacitors, original brown-face aesthetic with a flat logo, and the original single-function footswitch.

Believe it or not, this amp works perfectly and sounds unbelievably great. All functions and channels work perfectly. The amp is surprisingly very loud, and sounds efficient and clean with beautifully musical headroom. The speakers sound great, but the original cones have become fatigued, and when played loud, the speakers exhibit typical flapping. Although they are clearly not blown, they display audible signs of being 50 years old, and create the inevitable farting-noise that original paper cones eventually make. Otherwise, the amp sounds excellent and works perfectly. All original tubes, and original capacitors work exactly as they should, with no audible issues.

The amp is in remarkably excellent condition with only minimal signs of wear around the edges of the tolex near the point of the front part of the cabinet. With no rips, no tears, and no stains, this amp looks more like a re-issue than an original. The grill cloth is in near pristine condition, and the tolex is beautiful. There is a small amount of pen in on the back of the chassis, which can be easily removed if desired. All of the hardware is in super nice condition, and there is no substantive condition issues.
